What to expect
45 days after commencement, graduates will lose access to ICOM student resources. This includes JumpCloud, Microsoft 365, Google, etc...
What files are stored in Google?
Google stores data for many apps you may be using. Some of these apps include:
- Google Drive
- Gmail
- Docs, Sheets, & Slides
- Contacts
- YouTube
- Others
Deadline
Approximately 45 days after graduation, your Google account and related data will become unavailable.
What you need to do
There are a few ways to download or transfer your Google data. These processes will be described below.
Transfer Emails
- After graduation, you will be provided with a separate ICOM alumni email address. This will allow you to use Google Takeout Transfer, a tool to automatically migrate emails from your student account into your alumni account. Please note that Transfer is only for emails, not Drive or any other Google data.

Transferring All Other Google Data
Transfer/Download Using Takeout
- Save files you want to keep to a non-ICOM location prior to the deadline, using Google Takeout.
- Google Takeout allows you to either download your Google data to a personal device or transfer your Google data to other Cloud Storage providers, including Dropbox, OneDrive, and Box.
- Verify you have sufficient storage before attempting to transfer your files to any of the services listed above

Transfer by manually downloading
- Another easy way to save your data is to download all your files to your iPad, after it has been unmanaged. See: Unmanaging Your iPad After Graduation
- You can also save your files to a personal computer by navigating to drive.google.com and downloading your files manually.

Other Considerations
Consider any services or subscriptions you have started using your ICOM email address. You may want to associate a personal email account with them to avoid access disruptions.
